Job Title: AWS RDS Database Migration Engineer

Location: Malvern, PA (hybrid, onsite as required)

MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE MIGRATION EXPERENCE  IN IBM  DB2 DATABSE TO AMAZON RDS.

A hands-on AWS RDS specialist with practical DB2 migration experience who can help execute a reliable, secure, and low-downtime database migration.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced AWS RDS Database Migration Engineer to support in migrating legacy IBM DB2 databases to Amazon RDS. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database migration, AWS RDS, DB2, data validation, and performance optimization to ensure a smooth, secure, and efficient migration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute database migrations from IBM DB2 to AWS RDS.
  • Assess existing DB2 databases, schemas, stored procedures, SQL queries, and dependencies.
  • Leverage AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) and other migration tools as appropriate.
  • Perform schema conversion, data mapping, data validation, and reconciliation.
  • Optimize database performance, indexing, queries, and configurations on AWS RDS.
  • Troubleshoot migration issues and ensure data integrity with minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and database teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Support migration testing, cutover planning, and post-migration stabilization.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Amazon RDS and AWS database services.
  • Proven experience migrating IBM DB2 databases to AWS RDS.
  • Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and/or AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
  • Strong SQL, database schema, stored procedure, and query optimization skills.
  • Experience with database assessment, data validation, reconciliation, and migration troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of database security, backup, recovery, and high availability.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale enterprise database migration projects.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud architecture and database migration best practices.
  • Experience working in financial services or investment management environments is a plus.
