Overview

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a high-profile digital delivery programme. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, mission-critical systems within a collaborative Agile environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining modern Java-based applications, delivering high-quality software solutions that support complex business and user needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications and microservices.
• Build secure, resilient, and high-performing solutions using modern development practices.
• Collaborate with Architects, Business Analysts, DevOps Engineers, and QA teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integration services.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across the software life cycle.
• Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and best practice improvements.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Java (Java 11+).
• Experience developing Spring Boot applications.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Knowledge of JUnit, Mockito, and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience working with Git and version control best practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Government or public sector project experience.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar technologies.
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.

Security Requirements

Candidates must either:

• Hold active SC Clearance, or
• Be eligible and willing to undergo SC Clearance.
