Senior Accountant | Easton, MD

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and play an important role in keeping our financial operations accurate, organized, and running smoothly. This is a hands-on position with broad responsibilities across general accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, payroll support, vendor management, and tax-related activities.

The right person will be someone who enjoys digging into the details, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and taking ownership of their work. You’ll work closely with the Controller and collaborate with other departments to support accurate financial reporting and day-to-day accounting operations.

Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $75,000–$95,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Work Schedule Perk: This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position. In-office days are set for Tuesdays and Wednesdays at our Easton, MD corporate office, with additional days in the office as needed. A company laptop is provided for work outside the office.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and complete month-end close and general ledger accounting, including account reconciliations, journal entries, supporting schedules, and financial reporting.
  • Analyze account balances, transactions, and variances to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Process and reconcile sales commissions, quarterly incentive payments, and benefit accounts, and research and resolve payroll tax issues. Provide backup support for payroll processing.
  • Handle accounts payable and vendor accounting, including AP aging, vendor reconciliations, open receiving, and equipment and parts subledgers.
  • Complete tax and compliance activities, including W-9s, 1099 reporting, personal property tax, corporate tax-related activities, and internal controls.
  • Provide accounting, financial analysis, and reporting support to the Controller, including budgeting, forecasting, audits, inventory, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team and other departments to resolve issues, improve processes, and maintain efficient day-to-day accounting operations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
  • 3+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, preferably in a Senior Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements and financial reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes.
  • Experience with AP, AR, vendor accounts, and other accounting operations.
  • Experience with payroll, commissions, benefits, or tax-related accounting is a plus.
  • Experience working with an ERP or accounting system.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the accounting team, other departments, and external contacts.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship requirements.
  • Must reside within a one-hour driving radius of MATE’s Easton, Maryland corporate office.
