Position: SAP Source-to-Pay Applications Functional Lead
Location: Remote
Travel: Travel required at the client's request. Contractors will be responsible for travel expenses upfront and will be reimbursed by the client.
Role Overview
SAP Source-to-Pay Application Functional Lead owns functional design, stabilization, and continuous improvement across the enterprise SAP source-to-pay application landscape: SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition procurement, SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing, Supplier Lifecycle and Performance, contract-related processes, SAP Ariba Invoicing (formerly SAP Central Invoice Management where applicable), and SAP Fieldglass contingent workforce processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own the cross-application source-to-pay functional roadmap, production backlog, and design governance.
  • Lead S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition operational procurement configuration and support for requisitioning, purchasing, receiving/service entry, invoice integration, and procurement master/organizational data within scope.
  • Own SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing functional configuration and process controls, including guided/requisition-to-order and invoice-related user experiences where deployed.
  • Own supplier onboarding, qualification, lifecycle, profile, and performance processes in SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance.
  • Own contract compliance/process integration requirements, including contract consumption, ordering/invoicing against contracts, and handoffs across Ariba and S/4.
  • Own SAP Ariba Invoicing processes deployed for centralized invoice intake/orchestration; recognize that SAP Central Invoice Management is legacy naming for this product area.
  • Own SAP Fieldglass contingent workforce functional processes, including worker/work-order lifecycle, time/expense or service-related approvals where deployed, and downstream procurement/financial integration.
  • Define integration and data ownership boundaries among S/4, Ariba, SAP Business Network, Fieldglass, Finance, HR, and supplier systems.
  • Lead triage of production defects involving purchasing, supplier master, contracts, invoices, service entry, contingent labor, approvals, or cross-system status synchronization.
  • Maintain process/configuration documentation, interface ownership, support playbooks, and test traceability.
  • Define functional test scenarios and lead regression/business validation for source-to-pay releases.
  • Review SAP cloud release changes across S/4, Ariba, and Fieldglass and coordinate impact assessment and regression scope.
  • Partner with Security/IAM on business roles, approval controls, segregation of duties, and privileged configuration access.
  • Drive clean-core and standard-content adoption, escalating unnecessary customizations or duplicative workflows.
  • Manage SI/vendor functional deliverables and enforce defect-resolution quality, evidence, and production-readiness standards.
  • Provide functional leadership during supplier onboarding waves, invoice/payment-impacting incidents, and procurement close periods.
SAP / Product-Specific Responsibilities
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition operational procurement.
  • SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing; SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance; contract compliance/contract-related capabilities.
  • SAP Ariba Invoicing, including environments historically referred to as SAP Central Invoice Management, and integration with SAP Business Network where deployed.
  • SAP Fieldglass contingent workforce management and integration with procurement/finance.
  • SAP Integration Suite, managed gateway for spend management and SAP Business Network as an integration dependency; functional lead partners with, but does not own, technical integration development.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Establish source-to-pay service health, incident/problem management, and business-critical monitoring across product boundaries.
  • Track failed or delayed requisitions, POs, receipts/service entries, invoices, supplier syncs, contract consumption, and contingent workforce transactions.
  • Maintain release regression packs spanning S/4, Ariba, Business Network, and Fieldglass.
  • Drive measurable reduction in manual intervention, stuck transactions, supplier onboarding delays, and invoice exceptions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Procurement, Accounts Payable, Finance, Supplier Management, Legal/Contracts, HR/Contingent Workforce, Security, Integration, Data, QA/Release, SAP support, suppliers, and implementation partners.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of SAP procurement/source-to-pay delivery experience with cross-product leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with S/4HANA procurement and one or more SAP Ariba modules; strong multi-product experience preferred.
  • Experience with supplier, contract, invoice, and contingent labor process integration.
  • Demonstrated post-go-live production support and release experience.
Required Technical / Functional Skills
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Procurement.
  • SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing, Supplier Lifecycle and Performance, contracts/contract compliance, and SAP Ariba Invoicing.
  • SAP Fieldglass contingent workforce processes.
  • SAP Business Network and managed-gateway integration concepts.
  • Approval/workflow, supplier and purchasing master data, invoice/receipt/service-entry controls, testing, and release impact analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a global professional-services enterprise with indirect procurement and contingent workforce complexity.
  • Experience with SAP Integration Suite managed gateway and S/4-Ariba-Fieldglass integration troubleshooting.
  • Current SAP certification/learning credentials aligned to S/4HANA Cloud sourcing/procurement, SAP Ariba, and/or SAP Fieldglass are preferred.
