Senior Systems Engineer

Contract Details:

1. Duration: 6 months (likely to extend!)
2. Location: London - 3 days onsite per week
3. Contract engagement: Inside IR35

Role:

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join a greenfield initiative within one of the world’s largest market data platforms. You’ll help build the capability to monitor, measure and understand market data performance across 40+ global data centres.

The role focuses on synthetic testing, latency measurement and large-scale data aggregation, transforming performance data into global latency views and actionable health insights.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build systems for globally distributed synthetic testing of market data flows.
2. Develop aggregation layers to process large-scale latency data.
3. Create global latency views and health dashboards.
4. Analyse distributed data to identify performance bottlenecks.
5. Improve monitoring, diagnostics and operational visibility.
6. Contribute to the architecture and development of a new platform from the ground up.

Required Experience:

1. Experience building high-performance, latency-sensitive systems at scale.
2. Background in globally distributed, real-time systems or large-scale data infrastructure.
3. Strong experience with Go, Rust or C++.
4. Proficiency in Python, Java or TypeScript.
5. Experience handling large data volumes and building scalable processing pipelines.
6. Strong understanding of system performance, latency measurement and optimisation.
