Position Summary

Renesas Electronics is seeking an experienced Product Engineer ( Senior Staff level) to lead the development, qualification, release, and sustaining of advanced semiconductor power products. This role is responsible for driving product engineering execution across the full lifecycle, from silicon bring-up through high-volume production, with a strong focus on product quality, yield optimization, reliability, and customer success. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in power semiconductor technologies (e.g., Point of loads (POL), Hotswap/Efuse, Drivers solutions) and demonstrate strong ownership of complex technical challenges while influencing cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own product engineering activities across the full lifecycle, including silicon bring-up, characterization, qualification, production release, and sustaining

  • Define and execute comprehensive product qualification strategies aligned to JEDEC and industry standards

  • Drive reliability stress planning and interpretation, including HTOL, HAST/uHAST, TC, ELFR, and associated qualification methodologies.

  • Lead ESD and latch-up qualification strategy, data analysis, and failure resolution in alignment with product requirements.

  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex product, test, and manufacturing issues

  • Drive improvements in yield, test efficiency, product performance, and cost of quality

  • Define and execute characterization and qualification strategies to ensure robust product release

  • Partner with design and test engineering teams to optimize DFT, test coverage, and correlation (bench vs ATE vs system)

  • Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve customer issues and field escalations

  • Analyse yield, parametric, and reliability data to identify trends and drive corrective actions

  • Influence product, test, and manufacturing decisions through strong technical judgment and data-driven insights

  • Serve as a recognized subject matter expert in product engineering, statistical analysis, reliability, and failure analysis.

  • Lead cross-functional efforts across design, applications, reliability, and test teams to resolve highly complex technical challenges.

  • Provide leadership in defining characterization plans, qualification strategies, and analysis methodologies.

  • Communicate complex analytical findings, qualification results, and failure analysis conclusions to diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.

  • Influence product release decisions through data-driven insight, technical expertise, and sound engineering judgment.

  • Act as a key authority on product readiness, with accountability for decisions impacting product quality and business outcomes.

  • Work on complex, ambiguous problems requiring evaluation of incomplete or conflicting data, applying conceptual and statistical thinking to determine optimal solutions.

  • Anticipate technical risks in product performance, qualification adequacy, and reliability margins, and proactively drive improvements.

  • Contribute to development of best practices in qualification methodology, data analysis, and engineering decision frameworks.

  • Mentor junior engineers in advanced statistical techniques, reliability interpretation, and structured problem solving and contribute to development of best practices

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Microelectronics Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, test engineering, or related roles

  • Strong experience in semiconductor industry, with preference for power / analog / mixed-signal products

  • Deep understanding of product lifecycle (NPI through sustaining)

  • Strong working knowledge of JEDEC standards (e.g., JESD47, JESD22 series) and industry qualification practices.

  • Hands-on experience with ESD qualification (HBM, CDM) and latch-up testing/analysis.

  • Experience with reliability stress planning and interpretation (HTOL, HAST, TC, ELFR, etc.).

  • Proven track record solving complex technical and yield-related issues

  • Strong data analysis skills (JMP, Python, MATLAB or similar)

  • Demonstrated success driving efficiency improvements in characterization, qualification, and yield analysis workflows.

  • Experience with ATE, silicon characterization, and production environments

  • Deep expertise in statistical analysis, including distribution analysis, correlation analysis, and limit optimization.

  • Strong background in product characterization and electrical performance evaluation.

  • Extensive experience in reliability qualification, ESD, and latch-up methodologies.

  • Demonstrated expertise in failure analysis and root cause investigation across multiple failure modes.

  • Proven leadership in solving highly complex technical problems using data-driven approaches.

  • Experience influencing engineering decisions and leading cross-functional technical initiatives.

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Successfully lead on-time product releases with robust characterization and qualification coverage

  • Drive measurable improvements in yield, test cost, and product quality

  • Achieve timely resolution of critical product and customer issues

  • Establish strong correlation between bench, ATE, and system-level performance

  • Influence key product and test decisions to improve competitiveness

  • Contribute to team capability growth through mentorship and technical leadership
