Role Overview
The Technical Representative position is a business-critical role, acting as the subject matter expert supporting the Boart Longyear capital and auxiliary equipment product lines. Based out of our Adelaide facility, the role focuses on testing and supporting the development of new products, assisting with education/training of employees and customers, and providing feedback on product use and implementation. Approximately 50% of the year is spent traveling to customer sites across Australia and Asia Pacific.
Responsibilities- Provide remote and on-site support for Boart Longyear drilling equipment, including the LF, LS and LM drill models.
- Offer training and technical service support to customers on the operation of our drills and products.
- Offer solutions and advice on optimizing product performance and ensuring efficient usage of equipment in various drilling applications.
- Engage with both external and internal customers to address technical issues and support various ad hoc service needs.
- Troubleshoot and conduct technical investigations as required to support the resolution of any problems.
- Collaborate with the Boart Longyear workshop to address technical issues.
- Conduct product testing with new and existing customers to assess and improve product performance.
- Work with key internal and external stakeholders to develop new business, including identifying new opportunities and providing input into new product development.
- Travel regularly within the Asia Pacific region, including on short notice, to fulfil the above responsibilities.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Mechanical Trade.
- Solid understanding of mechanical principles including hydraulic and electrical.
- Experience with drilling products and processes.
- Experience in the mining or drilling industry preferred.
- Commitment to exceptional customer service with a results driven mindset.
- Ability to maintain relationships with key account customers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
- Attention to detail, strong initiative, and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Office suite.
- Ability to travel, sometimes at short notice, for approximately 50% of the year (depending on business demands).
