StaffRight Associates has been retained by a well-established, highly respected civil design consultancy in the Bay Area to lead the search for an accomplished Project/Civil Engineer specializing in flood and stormwater solutions. In this high-impact position, you will drive advanced hydrologic modeling, mitigate regional flood risks, and pioneer sustainable water infrastructure initiatives for public sector entities across Northern California.
What You’ll Do
Lead comprehensive water resource studies and technical evaluations focused on municipal stormwater systems, drainage basins, and coastal flood mitigation.
Construct, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated numeric hydrologic and hydraulic simulation models using real-world precipitation, streamflow, and telemetry records.
Conduct advanced capacity assessments, pinpoint structural infrastructure deficiencies, and formulate actionable Capital Improvement Program strategies.
Synthesize geospatial datasets and curate robust database models to power multi-faceted civil design and environmental analysis projects.
Direct the creation of municipal drainage master plans, floodplain mapping initiatives, and long-term climate adaptation frameworks.
Design structural upgrades for stormwater pump stations, conveyance channels, detention systems, and underground culverts.
Author comprehensive engineering reports, technical memoranda, visual exhibits, and executive-level presentations for public agencies and project partners.
Spearhead site investigations while serving as a primary technical liaison to municipal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and multi-disciplinary teams.
Produce complete construction documentation, engineering design specifications, cost opinions, and regulatory filings.
What You Bring
Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license paired with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of three years of hands-on expertise in Water Resources Engineering.
Proven proficiency using industry-standard simulation platforms including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, XP-SWMM, TUFLOW, and MIKE.
Extensive practical mastery in 1D/2D Hydraulic Modeling, Model Calibration, Floodplain Analysis, FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, Pump Station Design, and Stormwater Management.
Specialized capabilities utilizing ArcGIS Pro, Geospatial Data Management, and Data-Driven Analysis to solve complex municipal drainage challenges.
Demonstrated background contributing to Sea Level Rise Mitigation, Climate Resilience Engineering, and Capital Improvement Planning.
Outstanding technical communication, report composition, and presentation skills capable of translating intricate modeling data into actionable stakeholder guidance.
Collaborative mindset with a strong interest in guiding junior engineering talent and upholding high standards of technical execution.
Compensation & Total Rewards
Annual base compensation ranging from $100,000 to $140,000, commensurate with experience.
