Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7
Hours:Afternoon shifts. Either 2pm - 10pm OR 1pm - 9pm
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
We are looking for an experienced Machinery Maintenance Lead to take responsibility for the reliability, safety and ongoing performance of machinery within a busy contract packing and manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on position involving planned maintenance, machinery setup, breakdown response and the organisation of spare parts and maintenance records. You will work closely with the production team to minimise downtime, improve equipment performance and ensure machinery remains safe and fully operational.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and repair a variety of electromechanical and pneumatic machinery.
Diagnose faults and respond efficiently to production breakdowns.
Develop and manage a planned preventative maintenance schedule.
Set up and adjust bagging, filling, auger, labelling, conveyor and counting machinery.
Complete routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication and machinery adjustments.
Maintain equipment operating within clean-room and controlled production environments.
Identify recurring faults and introduce improvements to increase reliability.
Keep accurate records of maintenance work, repairs and parts used.
Establish and organise an effective spare-parts and tooling system.
Monitor stock levels to ensure essential components and maintenance supplies are available.
Coordinate external contractors completing specialist repairs or installations.
Support machinery installations, modifications and production changeovers.
Work closely with production colleagues to resolve machinery-related issues.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping and compliance.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience in an electromechanical maintenance role within manufacturing, packing or production.
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
Experience maintaining pneumatic or air-operated equipment.
Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems.
The ability to diagnose and repair machinery breakdowns independently.
Experience working with packaging, filling, labelling or conveyor machinery would be highly advantageous.
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage maintenance priorities.
A proactive approach to reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with production teams and contractors.
A safety-conscious, practical and hands-on working style.
Permanent, full-time employment.
Consistent Monday-to-Friday fixed hours.
