COBOL/CICS Software Developer

Role Summary
This position involves developing, maintaining, and supporting COBOL, CICS, and JCL applications on IBM mainframe systems. The role requires application of computer science principles to software design, testing, and evaluation, ensuring systems meet client and government standards. The candidate will participate in full software development lifecycle tasks, including requirements analysis, system design, and testing. 

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of requirements with client specifications and government standards through formal verification methods.
• Translate high-level product development strategies into detailed system requirement specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop standards, procedures, and best practices for product development.
• Design system interfaces and integrate system components to function cohesively.
• Establish and evaluate system performance using technical criteria and performance measures.
• Support customer engagement and assist in business development by understanding and shaping system requirements.
• Participate in system conceptual design and document design concepts.
• Conduct system design reviews and ensure traceability and compliance of hardware and software components.
• Develop verification procedures and customer acceptance test plans for system requirements.
• Modify and oversee databases and database management systems; collaborate with programmers and analysts during database development projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in mainframe application development and support.
• Proficiency with COBOL, CICS, JCL, and IBM mainframe environments.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes, including requirements gathering, development, testing, and deployment.
• Basic understanding of electronic hardware, circuit boards, and computer development tools across platforms.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.

Publishing Pay Range: $35.00 - $40.00 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from any approved location within the United States.
