Job Description

We are seeking a MongoDB Senior Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in MongoDB data engineering, bulk data migration, and ETL scripting and a proven ability to plan and execute a one-time bulk migration from MongoDB to a target NoSQL database with accuracy, completeness, and controlled cutover.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze existing MongoDB collections, schemas, indexes, and data volumes to size and plan the bulk migration.


• Write and optimize MongoDB queries and aggregation pipelines to extract and transform data for the target data model.


• Develop and run bulk export, transform, and load scripts using Python or shell.


• Map MongoDB document structures to the [Target NoSQL DB] data model, handling nested documents, arrays, and data type differences.


• Tune bulk load performance using batching, parallel processing, and deferring index creation until after load.


• Conduct trial dry-run migrations on non-production data to estimate timings and resolve issues before the actual run.


• Perform post-load validation and reconciliation, including record counts per collection, checksums, and sample-level field comparisons.


• Prepare the data migration runbook, data mapping document, and rollback plan. Support the cutover window and post-migration fixes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency with MongoDB, including aggregation pipelines, indexing, and performance tuning.


• Hands-on experience building ETL pipelines and bulk data migrations using Python and shell scripting.


• Ability to design data mappings from document models to alternative NoSQL data models and handle schema evolution.


• Expertise with data validation techniques, checksums, and reconciliation methods.


• Experience planning and executing cutovers, including rollback planning and incident handling.


• 5+ years in relevant roles focused on MongoDB and data migration or data engineering.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with [Target NoSQL DB], including data modeling and bulk load utilities.


• Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform for data transfer, storage, and security.


• Background in CI/CD, containerization, and automation for repeatable migration runs.


• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks.
