A rapidly growing robotics and automation company in the Boston area is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a critical role in the development of advanced industrial robotic systems. Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within robotics, automation, industrial equipment, or similar technology-focused industries
- Proven experience taking products from initial design through production and deployment
- Strong background designing precision components and assemblies utilizing machined, sheet metal, and welded structures
- Proficiency with modern CAD software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar parametric modeling tools
- Experience managing engineering documentation, design revisions, and change-control processes
- Familiarity with tolerance analysis, design validation, risk assessment, and quality assurance methodologies
- Hands-on experience building and evaluating physical prototypes
- Prior work on robotic systems, automated machinery, or electromechanical products
- Experience supporting manufacturing scale-up efforts and production launches
- Understanding of supplier qualification and quality review processes
- Exposure to CNC machining, fabricated assemblies, additive manufacturing, and injection molding techniques
- Experience identifying and resolving issues during manufacturing builds or field deployments
- Ability to balance technical, operational, and cost considerations when making engineering decisions
- Track record of driving product reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
