Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A rapidly growing robotics and automation company in the Boston area is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a critical role in the development of advanced industrial robotic systems. This position goes far beyond traditional product design. You'll be involved in every stage of the engineering lifecycle, from early concept development and prototyping through production support and field performance improvements. Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within robotics, automation, industrial equipment, or similar technology-focused industries
• Proven experience taking products from initial design through production and deployment
• Strong background designing precision components and assemblies utilizing machined, sheet metal, and welded structures
• Proficiency with modern CAD software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar parametric modeling tools
• Experience managing engineering documentation, design revisions, and change-control processes
• Familiarity with tolerance analysis, design validation, risk assessment, and quality assurance methodologies
• Hands-on experience building and evaluating physical prototypes

Desired Skills & Experience

• Prior work on robotic systems, automated machinery, or electromechanical products
• Experience supporting manufacturing scale-up efforts and production launches
• Understanding of supplier qualification and quality review processes
• Exposure to CNC machining, fabricated assemblies, additive manufacturing, and injection molding techniques
• Experience identifying and resolving issues during manufacturing builds or field deployments
• Ability to balance technical, operational, and cost considerations when making engineering decisions
• Track record of driving product reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
