Job Summary

Alright lads- not one to be shared or taken to market with Admiral name as somebody in post but can anyone give me some ideas of a spec for Paul? Somebody ideally with a CV on record that we can whip over.
Role as below:
Current Situation

• They have just filled the Estate Management vacancy advertised earlier this year.
• Successful candidate was an experienced, qualified MRICS Chartered Surveyor with a licence and direct sector experience.
• The business may have another requirement in early 2027 , although this remains highly confidential and is not yet confirmed.

Hiring Requirements

• Candidate must be MRICS qualified .
• Significant valuation and rent review experience is essential.
• The team is specifically looking for someone who can contribute immediately with minimal onboarding.
• They have the capability to train individuals on their internal pub rent methodology but prefer candidates who already possess strong sector knowledge.
• Direct pubs/F&B estate management experience is strongly preferred over general retail.
• Suitable backgrounds include:
  • In-house pub or hospitality operators.
  • Private practice surveyors with substantial licensed/leisure property experience.
• Retail property experience alone is generally not sufficient unless accompanied by relevant pub/leisure exposure.
• The business remains highly selective, with previous hiring experience reinforcing the need to target a very small, specialist talent pool.

Potential Future Vacancy (Highly Confidential)

• There is a potential retirement within the Estate Management team, which could create a vacancy in early 2027 .
• This has not yet been confirmed and should be treated as strictly confidential.
• The retiring individual has a three-month notice period, and the business expects any replacement to have a similar notice period.

Geographic Coverage

Territory would cover:

• Swindon
• Bristol
• Cornwall
• Kent coast
• South of the M25
• South Midlands
• Oxfordshire
• Gloucestershire
• Up to Birmingham

Ideally, the successful individual would already be based within the region, with Bristol considered a strong location.

Team Structure

• Four Estate Managers plus Paul.

Portfolio

• Community pub estate.
• Approximately 300 pubs , predominantly leased & tenanted (L&T) .
• The ideal candidate should already understand the operational and commercial dynamics of community pubs and be genuinely interested in working within this market.
• The company has ambitions to continue growing its estate.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will be:

• MRICS Chartered Surveyors.
• Experienced in valuation and landlord & tenant matters.
• Comfortable working autonomously across a large geographical patch.
• Looking for a step up with long-term progression opportunities.
• Familiar with community pubs and the wider licensed property sector.
