Embedded Software Engineer | Cardiff By The Sea, CA, United States | Hybrid | $87,100.00 - $157,450.00

We're hiring on behalf of a leading organization renowned for its work in advanced warfare technology and electronic design. This company is at the forefront of protecting national security through innovative research, development, and advanced prototyping, transforming complex algorithms into real-time software systems. They operate in dynamic, multi-disciplinary environments, fostering a culture of rapid development and near-term field demonstrations.

The Role

  • Contribute to the design and development of advanced embedded systems within multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with specialists in systems engineering, hardware, firmware, RF front-end design, and signal processing.
  • Develop software for diverse microarchitectures including DSP, ARM, and RISC-V.
  • Build software for multi-core embedded systems across bare metal, minimal real-time operating systems, and Linux environments.
  • Analyze datasheets to understand expected hardware operation and develop low-level code (e.g., C) for interfacing with control status registers and hardware components.
  • Create and document test plans, procedures, and software requirements specifications.
  • Write software to validate hardware performance and operation under various conditions, including stress testing.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on C/C++ development for embedded systems.
  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments (e.g., VS Code, Eclipse) and build tools (e.g., GCC, CMake, Make).
  • Solid understanding of hardware-software interaction and basic computer architecture (e.g., Stack, Heap, Pointers).
  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion) and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins).
  • Experience with software testing tools and methodologies, including unit test frameworks and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Active Secret level security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
