About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Surveillance Analyst to join a growing Market Surveillance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring trading activity, identifying potential market abuse, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

This position requires hands-on experience withSMARTS Surveillance and a strong understanding of market conduct, trading behaviours, and regulatory expectations within financial markets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct daily market surveillance activities using SMARTS and other monitoring tools.
  2. Investigate alerts relating to potential market abuse, including:
  3. Insider dealing
  4. Market manipulation
  5. Spoofing and layering
  6. Wash trades
  7. Front running
  8. Analyse trading data and identify unusual patterns or suspicious activity.
  9. Escalate and document surveillance findings in accordance with internal procedures.
  10. Produce clear and concise investigation reports for management and regulatory review.
  11. Support regulatory enquiries, audits, and compliance monitoring activities.
  12. Assist in the calibration, testing, and enhancement of surveillance scenarios and alerts.
  13. Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Trading, and Operations teams to strengthen the firm's surveillance framework.
  14. Contribute to ongoing improvements in surveillance processes, controls, and technology.

Required Experience & Skills
  1. Proven experience in a Market Surveillance, Compliance Monitoring, Trade Surveillance, or Financial Crime role.
  2. Demonstrable experience using SMARTS Surveillance .
  3. Strong understanding of market abuse regulations and surveillance methodologies.
  4. Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, such as:
  5. MAR (Market Abuse Regulation)
  6. FCA regulations
  7. MiFID II
  8. Experience analysing complex datasets and trading activity.
  9. Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  10. Excellent report writing and communication abilities.
  11. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Law, or a related discipline.
  2. Experience within an exchange, broker, investment bank, asset manager, or trading venue.
  3. Knowledge of equities, fixed income and derivatives products
