Test and Commissioning Lead

About the Project:

The Glydways Atlanta ATN Pilot Project is the first passenger carrying Automated Transit Network deployed by Glydways in the United States, running from the Airport SkyTrain at the Georgia International Convention Center to the Gateway Center Arena. It spans construction, system integration and testing, commissioning, and pilot passenger service alongside project sponsors, contractors, the operating organization, local authorities, and emergency responders.

Glydways has established an independent Safety, Quality and Compliance organization, applying established transit and rail safety standards to a new class of automated technology. On the Atlanta site, the safety function owns the site safety management system, confirms that required controls are implemented before work and service proceed, and works in close partnership with Test and Commissioning, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, contractors, local authorities, and emergency responders to sustain them.

About the Role:

The Test & Commissioning Lead / Central Control Operations Lead oversees safe, coordinated control-center and test-and-commissioning activities for the Glydways Atlanta ATN Pilot Project. This role reports to the Operations Manager and provides operational command within approved procedures and delegated authority; leads readiness, escalation, incident response, and service restoration.

• Lead daily Operations Control Centers operations and test activities, maintaining awareness of vehicles, infrastructure, service and test status, restrictions, and operating conditions.
• Coordinate startup, readiness checks, test and commissioning windows, controlled changes, service pauses, shutdown, recovery, and resumption.
• Manage escalated alerts and major incidents, establish priorities, and coordinate E-Stop actions and emergency communications.
• Coordinate Central Control Operators, Field Operations, maintenance, engineering, safety, quality, technical support, and emergency responders.
• Confirm required test conditions, approved configurations, evidence, and technical and safety clearances before testing or service resumes.
• Maintain operational, incident, and test records; manage handovers and open actions; improve procedures and runbooks; and coach the team.

This is an in-person position in Atlanta, GA and will start as a one year contract. The role will start with an in-person 4-6 week training in Richmond, CA

Required Skills and Certifications:

• B.S. in Engineering Fields or equivalent
• At least five years of experience leading test or control-center operations in transit, autonomous vehicles, fleet, industrial, or another safety-sensitive environment.
• Experience coordinating teams during system integration, commissioning, incidents, service disruptions, or recovery.
• Team leadership skills. Sound judgment and clear communication during time-sensitive events, within approved procedures and delegated authority.
• Ability to interpret system status, alerts, logs, test results, configuration information, and operational restrictions.
• Strong operational and test documentation skills, including incident records, test records, shift handovers, and open-action tracking.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with automated transit, rail, automated people movers, or another complex safety-critical system.
• Experience with system bring-up, acceptance or safety-validation testing, controlled changes, and regression testing.
• Familiarity with Operation Control Centers or SCADA tools, network monitoring, vehicle diagnostics, incident management, Jira, or test-tracking systems.
• Familiarity with incident command systems or another structured emergency-response framework.
