RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Mechanical Technician in Milford, MI.

Summary

The main function of a Mechanical Technician is to modify, test and repair machinery and equipment under direction of engineering staff or physical scientists. A Mechanical Technician helps engineers design, test, and manufacture industrial machinery, consumer products and other equipment.

Job Responsibilities

• Review and approve detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet or wood shops
• Approve project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives, and test nature of technical problems such as redesign
• Approve project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing
• Communicate changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly, and drafting techniques and procedures to staff and approve corrections
• Review and approve tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills
• Supervise tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance
• Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications
• Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related field required
• 8-10 years of experience required
• Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field
• Strong knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability
• Team player and detail oriented
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
• Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations
• Strong ability to perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
