Introduction:
Dhaka Technologies Limited Company is hiring on behalf of its client for a Lead, Optical Engineer to support the design, analysis, and development of advanced optical and electro-optical systems for aerospace and defense applications. The position supports space-based programs where stray light suppression, radiometric accuracy, and overall optical performance directly influence mission success. This role is centered on stray light analysis and control methods, with primary responsibilities in optical system modeling, performance analysis, and non-sequential evaluation to ensure mission-critical system performance in challenging operational environments. The successful candidate will support active and passive imaging payloads across design, test, and verification.
Responsibilities:
- Perform stray light analysis and develop control and mitigation strategies for optical and electro-optical systems.
- Identify stray light sources and assess their impact on overall optical system performance.
- Build and maintain optical system models, including non-sequential evaluation of imaging and sensing payloads.
- Conduct optical performance and radiometric analysis in support of active and passive imaging payloads.
- Support the design, manufacture, integration, test, and sell-off of space-based EO/IR subsystems.
- Work with optical metrology equipment and phase retrieval techniques during test and verification activities.
- Develop analysis scripts and automation using MATLAB and Python.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 7 years of prior related experience.
- 2 years of relevant experience with optical stray light analysis tools such as FRED.
- Ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
- Hands-on experience with optical metrology equipment, including interferometers, autocollimators, and laser trackers, and with phase retrieval techniques.
- Experience with the design, manufacture, integration, test, and sell-off of space-based EO/IR subsystems.
- Experience with optical design software such as CODE V and Zemax OpticStudio.
- Optical engineering experience with EO/IR space-based payloads and vehicle systems.
- Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB and Python.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with optical design software such as CODE V and Zemax.
- Familiarity with FRED software for stray light analysis.
- Experience with optical metrology equipment and phase retrieval techniques.
- Strong coding skills in MATLAB and Python for automation and analysis.
Location: Rochester, New York (on-site)
Contract Duration: Full time
Compensation: Base salary range of $180,000 to $210,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
