Description

We are seeking a Junior Business Intelligence Developer to support the development, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of enterprise reporting solutions using SAP BusinessObjects and related business intelligence tools. Working under the guidance of senior developers, analysts, data teams, and business stakeholders, this person will help update reports and universe development, write and validate SQL queries, confirm report outputs, document report logic, and support ongoing reporting operations in a federal client environment.

The developer will gain hands-on experience across the reporting solution lifecycle, including requirements review, report updates, basic report development, testing, documentation, deployment support, and production troubleshooting. In this junior role, the developer will assist with analytical products and reporting applications that operate within client-server, multi-tier, or enterprise business intelligence environments while applying established information system development methods and practices under senior guidance. This position is ideal for someone with foundational SQL and analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and an interest in growing as a BusinessObjects and BI reporting developer.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development, testing, and maintenance of SAP BusinessObjects universe, reports, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting solutions.
• Support senior developers and analysts in reviewing reporting requirements and translating them into report updates or specifications.
• Write, update, and validate SQL queries to support report development, testing, and data analysis.
• Help troubleshoot report issues, data discrepancies, and defects in existing BusinessObjects content.
• Validate report outputs against source data to help ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of analytical products and reporting applications using SAP BusinessObjects, SQL, and related business intelligence tools.
• Apply established information system development practices under senior guidance, including requirements review, report design support, development, testing, deployment support, and production troubleshooting.
• Work with client databases, source system data, spreadsheets, and other resources to collect, validate, analyze, and reconcile data used in reporting products.
• Support reporting solutions deployed in client-server, multi-tier, or enterprise business intelligence environments.
• Assist with updates to report prompts, variables, filters, data providers, and other report components under senior guidance.
• Document report logic, data sources, testing results, known issues, and resolution steps.
• Collaborate with data, analytics, application, and platform teams to support investigation and resolution of reporting issues.
• Support report migration, modernization, or conversion activities as assigned.
• Follow CMS security, privacy, and data governance requirements when developing, testing, and supporting reports.

Requirements

• Requires a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or a Master's degree with at least two (2) years of experience. Four (4) years of specialized experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
• • Advanced certifications can be used to substitute for experience.
• Foundational SQL skills, including basic joins, filtering, sorting, aggregations, and troubleshooting query results.
• Experience with SAP BusinessObjects and related business intelligence tools.
• Ability to compare report outputs against relational databases, spreadsheets, source files, or other source system data.
• Basic understanding of reporting databases, data models, or data warehousing concepts.
• Ability to document report requirements, report logic, test results, defects, and production support notes.
• Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to follow established development, testing, and documentation processes.
• Experience supporting analytical products, reporting applications, business intelligence solutions, or other information systems in a development, testing, data analysis, or production support capacity.
• Familiarity with client-server, multi-tier, enterprise reporting, or business intelligence application environments.
• Ability to use SQL, analytical tools, and established methodologies to support data analysis, report development, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
• Basic understanding of information system development practices, including requirements review, design support, development, validation, documentation, deployment support, and ongoing maintenance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with business users, analysts, developers, and data teams in an Agile environment.
• Prior exposure to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, federal healthcare programs, or government reporting environments is a plus but not required.
