3. Test Lead – API Testing

Location: Richmond, VA or Atlanta, GA Type: Contract (W2 / 1099) – through December 2027 Employment: No C2C / No third-party vendors Openings: 4 Interview: Immediate

About the Role Hiring Test Leads with a strong API testing background to support a multi-year healthcare technology program. You will own test strategy and execution for REST/SOAP APIs and integration layers, lead a QA pod, and drive automation.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute API and integration test strategy, plans, and test cases
  • Perform functional, regression, contract, negative, and performance testing of APIs
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks (Postman/Newman, RestAssured, Karate, or similar)
  • Validate data across services and databases using SQL
  • Lead and mentor QA engineers; coordinate testing activities across sprints and releases
  • Report defects, track metrics, and communicate quality status to stakeholders

Required Skills

  • 7+ years in software QA with 2+ years as a test lead
  • Strong hands-on API testing experience (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, authentication/OAuth)
  • Tools: Postman, SoapUI, RestAssured, Karate, or equivalent
  • SQL skills for backend data validation
  • Experience with CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and defect management tools (JIRA, ALM)

Nice to Have

  • Healthcare domain experience (HIPAA, HL7/FHIR, claims, eligibility, payer/provider systems) is a plus
  • Performance testing (JMeter, Gatling) and test data management experience
