AWS Solution Architect - Senior Manager

Location: London

Working pattern: Hybrid, with travel to client sites

Salary: Up to £125,000 + benefits

Security clearance: BPSS and SC clearance required

We are recruiting an experienced AWS Solution Architect to join a leading global technology and transformation consultancy at Senior Manager level.

This is a senior leadership position for an accomplished cloud architect who can define enterprise strategy, lead complex transformation programmes and advise executive stakeholders. You will help major organisations turn their cloud strategies into secure, scalable and resilient solutions.

Key responsibilities
  • Define enterprise cloud strategies, governance models and architecture standards for AWS adoption.
  • Translate complex business objectives into scalable, secure and cost-effective cloud architectures.
  • Lead major cloud transformation programmes, including data-centre exits, cloud migrations and legacy modernisation.
  • Design cloud-native applications using serverless, containerised and microservices-based patterns.
  • Shape data, analytics and AI/ML architectures.
  • Design secure identity, access-management and encryption solutions.
  • Develop APIs, event-driven architectures and hybrid connectivity solutions.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for availability, scalability, resilience, performance and observability.
  • Define disaster-recovery strategies and operational standards.
  • Establish cloud security, auditing, compliance and cost-allocation controls.
  • Present strategies and architecture recommendations to executive boards and governance forums.
  • Mentor managers and consultants while developing the wider team's technical capability.
  • Support business development and contribute to new client propositions.
Essential experience
  • Significant hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS solutions.
  • Experience defining cloud strategy and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Delivery of large-scale cloud migration or modernisation programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native application architecture.
  • Experience with serverless services, containers and microservices.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms, analytics and AI/ML solutions.
  • Deep understanding of IAM, encryption, cloud security and compliance.
  • Experience designing APIs, integrations and event-driven solutions.
  • Knowledge of highly available, fault-tolerant and scalable architectures.
  • Experience with disaster recovery, monitoring, performance and observability.
  • Strong executive stakeholder-management and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading technical teams and developing architecture capability.
Qualifications
  • AWS Associate or Professional certification, such as:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable experience
  • AWS Specialty certifications in security, networking, data or machine learning.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Multi-cloud architecture experience.
  • Experience working within regulated or public-sector environments.
  • Cloud financial management and cost-optimisation expertise.
