Google Cloud Platform Platform Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Google Cloud Platform Platform Engineer with strong experience in Google Cloud Platform, Terraform, and infrastructure automation.

The ideal candidate combines software engineering and cloud infrastructure engineering to develop reusable, scalable, and secure cloud platform solutions.

This is a development-focused platform engineering role, not a traditional infrastructure administration or production support position. You will work on building reusable infrastructure components, automation frameworks, and developer enablement solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain reusable Terraform modules for Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, IAM, Compute Engine, and other cloud services.
• Develop infrastructure automation solutions using Python, Go, or similar programming languages.
• Build standardized, reusable cloud infrastructure components that can be consumed by multiple application development teams.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Harness.
• Automate Google Cloud Platform infrastructure provisioning, configuration, validation, and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to build internal platform capabilities and improve developer productivity.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code best practices, including modular design, version control, automated testing, and security validation.
• Support Google Cloud Platform networking and security configurations, including VPCs, IAM, firewall rules, and service accounts.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure automation issues and continuously improve platform reliability and scalability.

Required Qualifications

• 3 6 years of relevant experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or DevOps.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience writing and developing Terraform infrastructure code, preferably reusable modules.
• Programming or scripting experience using Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience with CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent tools.
• Understanding of Google Cloud Platform networking, IAM, infrastructure security, and cloud architecture.
• Experience working with Git, code reviews, and software development best practices.
• Ability to independently develop, troubleshoot, and improve infrastructure automation solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), self-service provisioning solutions, or developer automation tools.
• Familiarity with Terraform module testing, Terratest, TFLint, or Checkov.
• Experience developing APIs, internal automation frameworks, or cloud provisioning tools.
• Google Cloud certifications are an advantage.

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in engineers who have personally developed infrastructure solutions through code, rather than primarily managing cloud environments.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable explaining the Terraform modules, automation scripts, and platform components they have built, including how these solutions were tested, maintained, and reused by other engineering teams.
