Job Description

Position Overview:

Linux Engineer to support the final stages of server preparation and configuration for a large enterprise Oracle Network Management System (NMS) project. Most physical server deployment work is complete. This role will focus on Linux operating system configuration, server administration, security configuration, troubleshooting, Active Directory integration, and preparing servers for handoff to the Oracle application team.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or Oracle Linux and is comfortable collaborating across infrastructure, security, networking, application, and project teams in a large enterprise environment.

Note: This is a W2 only role — C2C, C2H will not be considered

Onsite in Las Vegas 5x a week

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and administer Oracle Linux and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.

• Complete remaining operating system configuration and server preparation activities.

• Perform Linux package management and configure required services and system settings.

• Configure disk partitions, file systems, mount points, and other operating system requirements.

• Create and manage Linux user accounts, groups, permissions, and access.

• Integrate Linux servers with Active Directory and troubleshoot authentication and access issues.

• Configure servers according to customer infrastructure, security, and operating standards.

• Support security hardening and the installation and configuration of required security and monitoring tools.

• Perform system-level troubleshooting and resolve Linux configuration, connectivity, authentication, and application-support issues.

• Validate server readiness and prepare systems for handoff to the Oracle application team.

• Partner with Oracle application resources to troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues during software deployment.

• Document server configurations, processes, troubleshooting steps, and completed work.

• Collaborate with customer infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams to resolve issues and maintain project progress.

• Provide technical support to existing Linux resources and contribute effectively to the broader project team.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Linux administration experience, particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or Oracle Linux.

• Experience installing and configuring Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment.

• Strong knowledge of Linux package management, file systems, permissions, users and groups, services, and system configuration.

• Experience integrating Linux servers with Active Directory.

• Experience troubleshooting Linux operating system and server configuration issues.

• Experience working with enterprise security requirements and server hardening.

• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with infrastructure and application teams.

• Ability to work onsite as required by the project.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Oracle applications running on Linux.

• Familiarity with Oracle Database and Oracle infrastructure products; database administrator experience is not required.

• Previous experience supporting a large-scale Oracle implementation or Network Management System (NMS) environment.

• Experience with Carbon Black, Tripwire, or similar enterprise security platforms.

• Experience troubleshooting Linux servers that support enterprise applications.

• Previous experience in a large enterprise, utility, or highly regulated environment.
