Technical Writer

The Technical Writer utilizes a well-developed skill set in creating clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation. This role calls upon collaboration with cross-functional teams, content standardization, style guidelines, and document management. This roll will:

• Write and edit technical documentation such as user manuals, white papers, installation guides, and technical support documentation
• Translate complex technical concepts into understandable language for non-technical users
• Work closely with engineers, software developers, and support teams to gather and verify information
• Participate in design reviews to understand new products, designs, and changes
• Ensure all documentation follows an established set of style guides and formatting standards
• Manage documentation within a content management system or version control system (e.g. Autodesk Vault, Confluence, SharePoint)
• Collect feedback from internal and external stakeholders to improve the quality, accuracy, and fidelity of the content
• Update documents based on user feedback and evolving design of product.
• Proofread and review the work of other professionals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to standards
• Record meeting minutes for technical reviews in preparion for submittal to the customer

• Expert computer skills and experience within the Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent verbal, written, listening and telephone communication skills
• Experience generating technical documentation (charts, graphs, technical reviews)
• Working within a collaborative team environment
• Proficiency with generating figures, annotating images, and working knowledge of a Photoshop-type software
• Understanding of assembly drawings, drtechnical wawing trees, bills of materials (BOMs), parts lists, and figures
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a combination of technical and communication/writing roles.

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Engineering and / or technical professional environment experience
• History working with an aerospace or defense contractor
• Experience working within document management and revision control tools
• Experience with one or more of the following programs: Vault, PDM, Confluence, or SharePoint
• Familiarity with compliance or regulatory documentation
• Ability to interpret technical drawings
