About the Role:
As our Barback, you will play an essential role in supporting the bartenders and Food & Beverage team at Beast & Butterflies. You will help keep the bar fully stocked, clean, organized, and ready for service while ensuring bartenders have everything they need to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
This role is ideal for someone who is energetic, dependable, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, social environment.
Your Impact – Beverage & Guest Experience
You will help create a seamless bar experience by keeping service areas stocked, clean, and organized. Your behind-the-scenes support allows bartenders to focus on engaging with guests and delivering outstanding hospitality.
What You'll Be Doing
Bar Support
- Assist bartenders with stocking liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other supplies
- Replenish products throughout service to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Prepare and restock garnishes, fruit, napkins, straws, and other bar essentials
- Retrieve and organize products from storage areas
- Assist with moving and storing beverage deliveries
- Keep bartenders' workstations supplied and service-ready
Cleanliness & Organization
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, service stations, storage areas, and equipment
- Collect, wash, polish, and restock glassware as needed
- Clear and remove empty bottles, glassware, trash, and other items from service areas
- Assist with cleaning bar equipment and work areas
- Follow established opening, closing, and side-work procedures
- Maintain proper organization of liquor, beer, wine, and supplies
Guest Experience
- Support bartenders in providing prompt and attentive service
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and energetic bar environment
- Respond to team requests quickly and professionally
- Assist with guest needs when appropriate and direct requests to the appropriate team member
- Represent the M Social brand through a positive, professional, and social attitude
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with bartenders, servers, hosts, culinary, banquet, and management teams
- Communicate effectively regarding product levels, guest needs, and operational priorities
- Anticipate the needs of bartenders and the bar team
- Support the team during high-volume service periods
- Maintain a positive, collaborative, and team-focused work environment
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Follow company procedures for safe handling and storage of beverages and supplies
- Maintain proper sanitation of work areas and equipment
- Follow safe lifting, carrying, and storage practices
- Report safety hazards, equipment issues, or maintenance concerns promptly
- Comply with all applicable California alcohol service requirements and company policies

Technical / Role-Specific Requirements
- Previous restaurant, hotel, bar, or Food & Beverage experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of bar operations and beverage products preferred
- Ability to safely lift and carry supplies and beverage products
- Food Handler Card required or ability to obtain upon hire, as applicable
- Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required or ability to obtain as required by California law
- Ability to follow recipes, procedures, sanitation standards, and company policies
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous barback, server, food runner, busser, or similar Food & Beverage experience
- Previous hotel or lifestyle restaurant experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits
- Experience working in a high-volume environment
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and move throughout the bar and storage areas
- Ability to safely transport cases, kegs, boxes, and beverage supplies as required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning, stocking, and service-support tasks
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
