Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Butte, Montana. This role will be responsible for leading mechanical design projects from concept through production, supporting the development of innovative products and manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SolidWorks, ANSYS, CAD, CAE, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), along with experience designing products for manufacturing in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead assigned engineering projects from inception through completion.
• Develop project requirements to resolve product and process challenges.
• Support the development of new products, prototypes, and manufacturing processes.
• Conduct technical investigations and engineering analysis.
• Prepare design specifications, engineering documentation, and recommendations for management review.
• Create and optimize mechanical designs using SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms.
• Perform structural, thermal, and mechanical analysis using ANSYS and FEA tools.
• Design products for manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and engineering.
• Support prototype development, testing, validation, and product improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET Accredited preferred).
• 6+ years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Hands-on experience with ANSYS.
• Extensive experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Strong knowledge of CAD and CAE design methodologies.
• Experience designing products for manufacturing environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in advanced product development and prototype design.
• Strong background in Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Experience with mechanical system analysis and optimization.
• Knowledge of industrial equipment, components, or manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in product design projects.
