Senior Director of Tax

Company Overview: A leading retirement services, insurance, and asset management organization serving both individual and institutional clients across the U.S. With a longstanding presence in the financial services industry, the firm manages a substantial insurance and investment platform and continues to grow across its retirement and wealth management businesses.

Role Overview: The organization is seeking a Senior Director, Life Taxation to join its tax leadership team. This role will support the life insurance business and oversee tax reporting, tax planning, tax accounting, and tax compliance activities while serving as a key advisor to finance leadership.

Location Options: New York, NY | Charlotte, NC | Dallas, TX

Hybrid Requirement: 3-days/week on-site

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead tax provision, tax planning, and tax compliance activities for the life insurance business
• Oversee corporate income tax reporting and tax accounting processes
• Evaluate the tax implications of transactions and strategic business initiatives
• Review and monitor federal and state tax matters
• Partner closely with finance, accounting, and business leaders on tax-related issues
• Develop and communicate tax positions and recommendations to senior leadership
• Manage and develop members of the tax team
• Support tax strategy initiatives aimed at optimizing the organization's overall tax position

Qualifications:

• Strong background in tax provision (ASC 740), tax accounting, compliance, and planning
• Corporate insurance tax experience required
• Prior people leadership and management experience
• Experience within life insurance, annuities, retirement services, reinsurance, or insurance asset management organizations preferred
• CPA preferred
• Experience with insurance industry and asset management tax matters preferred
