Senior Platform Engineer with Security Clearance

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to support a government-focused technology modernization effort in North Charleston, SC. This position is ideal for a technical professional who enjoys evaluating emerging technologies, leading platform architecture discussions, and helping engineering teams implement modern Kubernetes-based solutions.

The engineer will work closely with government stakeholders and technology vendors to assess new software platforms, conduct technical evaluations, and provide recommendations on future-state platform capabilities. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with architecture review, platform strategy, DevSecOps practices, and technical leadership. Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess modern Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) technologies
• Lead technical evaluations of Kubernetes ecosystem platforms including OpenShift, Rancher, and Tanzu
• Review software architectures, technical proposals, and engineering deliverables
• Provide technical leadership to software developers and partner organizations
• Coordinate lab testing and integration activities across engineering teams
• Develop recommendations regarding platform modernization efforts
• Support implementation of cloud-native and microservices-based architectures
• Ensure platforms meet security, operational, and performance requirements
• Guide automation, CI/CD, and DevSecOps initiatives
• Support identity and access management integrations including Active Directory, IAM, ICAM, and RBAC
• Participate in Agile development activities and team ceremonies
• Present technical findings and recommendations to engineers and leadership
• Research emerging technologies and evaluate applicability within enterprise environments Required Qualifications
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance or currently possess an active Secret Clearance
• CompTIA Security+ certification
• Agile Developer, Professional Scrum Developer, Certified Scrum Developer, or related Agile certification
• Strong Kubernetes experience
• Experience with enterprise container platforms such as OpenShift, Rancher, or Tanzu
• Experience reviewing and evaluating technical architectures
• Knowledge of DevSecOps methodologies and modern CI/CD practices
• Experience with Linux and Windows environments
• Understanding of networking, cloud-native architectures, and microservices
• Knowledge of IAM, ICAM, RBAC, and Active Directory integrations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Experience supporting DoD or federal government programs
• Experience with tactical mission systems
• Familiarity with CANES or related Navy environments
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or similar observability tools
• Exposure to AI/ML technologies supporting IT operations
• Additional certifications such as CISSP, Red Hat, ITIL, SANS, or Microsoft certifications
