We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, AI / Machine Learning Software Engineer to join our Global Payments & Trade CAO team. This role is in Pune.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

AI Solution Engineering

• Design and develop AI-powered applications, autonomous agents, copilots, and intelligent automation solutions.
• Build and integrate LLM-based applications using frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent.
• Develop Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions leveraging vector databases and enterprise knowledge stores.
• Fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize AI models for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement responsible AI, model governance, explainability, and monitoring capabilities.

AI Architecture & Platform Development

• Translate business requirements into scalable AI solution designs and technical architectures.
• Define patterns for agent orchestration, prompt management, tool integrations, memory management, and context engineering.
• Design reusable AI engineering components and accelerate solution delivery through standardized frameworks.
• Participate in architecture reviews and technology evaluations.

Data Engineering

• Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and curate structured and unstructured data.
• Develop data workflows supporting AI and analytics use cases.
• Engineer datasets for machine learning and generative AI applications.
• Build integrations with enterprise systems, APIs, databases, and cloud services.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, security, and governance standards are upheld.

MLOps & AI Operations

• Build CI/CD pipelines for machine learning and AI applications.
• Automate model deployment, monitoring, retraining, and lifecycle management processes.
• Implement observability, logging, performance metrics, and drift detection mechanisms.
• Support production AI workloads and continuously improve solution reliability. 
   

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

Experience

• 10+ years of software engineering, AI engineering, machine learning, or data engineering experience.
• Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience building Generative AI applications.
• Experience leading technical workstreams or small engineering teams.

Technical Skills

Programming

• Python (Expert)
• SQL (Advanced)
• JavaScript/TypeScript (Preferred)
• REST API development

AI/ML

• Large Language Models (GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, etc.)
• Prompt Engineering
• Agentic AI architecture
• RAG implementations
• Machine Learning fundamentals
• NLP and document intelligence

Data Engineering

• Databricks, Spark, or equivalent
• Data pipelines and workflow orchestration
• Structured and unstructured data processing

Cloud Platforms

Experience with one or more:

• Microsoft Azure (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Fabric, Data Factory)
• AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker, Glue, Lambda, EMR)

MLOps / DevOps

• GitHub / Azure DevOps
• Docker
• Kubernetes (preferred)
• MLflow
• CI/CD pipelines
• Monitoring and observability tools

Databases

• SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake
• Vector databases (ChromaDB, Pinecone, Weaviate, MongoDB Atlas Vector Search)
• NoSQL databases 

Leadership & Delivery

• Lead small teams of AI engineers and developers on multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish engineering best practices.
• Drive technical decision-making and code quality reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, data, business, risk, compliance, and technology stakeholders.
• Contribute to estimation, sprint planning, technical roadmaps, and delivery governance.
