Job Description
12 Month Contract £71 - £80 per hour umbrella (Inside IR35) Job Role: We are looking for a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to support delivery of civil / structural subway systems as part of the subways team in Devonport. Lead on the Structural / Civil works required for: Refurbishment design proposals for the existing extant subways within the 10D site.<br />Development of new / alternative designs. Lead the design team with assessing the findings of recent condition surveys, within the extant subways, and develop a strategy / design for the remediation of these subways. This will need to be coordinated with existing utilities and proposed to ensure that all design requirements are met Day-to-day, you’ll be supporting the engineering capability of the new systems through the design lifecycle in accordance with the design process.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage one or more technical design packages ensuring requirements are met through the design process<br />Provide technical design guidance and review of sub-contract design to ensure compliance with specifications, technical regulations and standards<br />Collaboration across engineering functions and stakeholders to integrate designs within the overall facility layout and manage interfaces<br />Maintaining the engineering configuration of the design intent (change control)<br />Key Skills and Experience: Design of high complex services subways / routes preferably in a Nuclear/ Regulated environment<br />Regulations, legislation and standards that are applicable to civil / structural design and construction (including Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM)<br />Substantiation of SFR’s when identified within systems to support the nuclear safety case<br />Able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in the technical management of complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.<br />Provide expert advice to the sub-contracted design houses to enable them to develop the design.<br />Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements.<br />Experience of working in BIM environments.<br />Awareness of project planning, project management and budgeting.<br />Sound understanding of company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements and ability to manage projects in accordance with these procedures.<br />Collaborate with other design houses regarding the proposed works and the required changes to the subways to facilitate their designs.<br />Support development and lead implementation of assurance and governance activities for subway remedial works and new design development<br />Qualifications: Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering<br />Chartered Engineer with membership of an accredited body (i.e. ICE) or working towards chartered status. Or significant experience
