Job Description

Position Summary

The Receiving Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient receiving of all deliveries. This role ensures that products are checked in correctly, handled safely, stored properly, and entered into inventory control systems. The Receiving Specialist works closely with department managers, vendors, and store leadership to maintain inventory accuracy and support smooth store operations. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect all incoming deliveries for accuracy and quality.
  • Verify invoices, purchase orders, and shipping documents against received inventory.
  • Ensure the proper handling, rotation, and storage of products according to company standards and food safety guidelines. 
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods to management.
  • Submit requests for credit to vendors when necessary and ensure that the store receives credit for all invoicing discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient receiving area, coolers, freezers, and backroom storage spaces.  
  • Regularly check and adjust inventory levels.
  • Follow all OSHA and food safety regulations and loss prevention protocols.
  • Analyze daily and weekly reports to identify opportunities and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist the store team with replenishment when needed.
  • Coordinate with store leadership to support overall store operations and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Serve as Manager‑on‑Duty (MOD) as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • Basic computer and inventory systems knowledge required
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to make quick, effective decisions
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of basic food safety regulations preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time; bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature environments (coolers, freezers, kitchens)

Compensation
