Galatea Associates is seeking a Senior Financial Software Consultant to join our growing team!

    In this role you will work closely with clients and teammates to understand business needs, develop technical solutions, and drive delivery across a range of technologies and client environments. Through this work, you will help develop the systems that support global liquidity and capital flow.

What You’ll Do

    General Responsibilities

    • Drive Project Delivery - Work with client stakeholders and your team lead to clarify requirements, evaluate priorities, and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

    • Collaborate with Clients - Build strong client relationships, communicate technical concepts clearly, and help align business needs with practical solutions.

    • Solve Complex Problems - Analyze business and technical challenges, assess potential approaches, and develop effective solutions.

    • Drive Technical Execution - Lead the design, development, implementation, and testing of software solutions across client projects for yourself and others.

    • Mentorship - Coach more junior members of the team on technical and functional subjects and assist them with work planning and organization.

    • Develop Financial Expertise - Build an understanding of finance, capital markets, and the businesses our clients support.

      Project assignments may vary based on client needs. The following examples illustrate the types of work you may be involved in.

      • Payments Initiation Modernization - Help a major global bank modernize the technology behind payments initiation to improve performance, implement intelligent monitoring and anomaly detection, and strengthen platform support.

      • Cross-Border Payments Migration - Support a major global bank in migrating cross-border payments processing to a strategic platform, including data solutions for tracking payment status, batches, currency conversions, postings, and settlements.

      • Greenfield Domestic Payments Platform - Help a major European bank design and develop a new domestic payments platform supporting payment schemes across the US and Europe, including ACH, wires, SEPA, BACS, Faster Payments, and SWIFT.

      • Enterprise Data Management - Help a leading enterprise data management provider improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and shorten implementation timelines for its clients.

        • Technology Landscape

        Experience with at least one technology in each category below is required. Java 17+ and Kafka (or a comparable streaming platform) are essential.

About You

    • Problem Solving - Ability to navigate complex problems and develop practical, business-focused solutions.

    • Client Collaboration - Ability to build strong relationships with clients and other Galateans through mutual respect and open communication.

    • Technical Foundation - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or a related field
    • Financial Interest - Interest in learning about finance, capital markets, and our clients’ businesses; prior experience in finance or capital markets is a plus, but not required.

Compensation

    Dependent on relevant skills and experience.

    £70K - £95K total compensation (base salary + bonus)

Candidates must be willing to work fully in the office based on their client assignment. Travel to client offices may also be required.
