Perform and interpret lung function tests and home sleep studies for patients across our Sleepscope clinics.
Sleepscope, part of Scope Healthcare, provides sleep and respiratory diagnostics, including lung function testing and home-based sleep studies, through clinics across Melbourne.
We're now looking for a Sleep & Respiratory Scientist to join our team. You'll run our testing from start to finish, from the test itself to the results our referring doctors rely on, working with our technicians and clinic team.
What you will do
- Perform lung function testing. Run testing to ANZSRS standards, and coach each patient through every manoeuvre.
- Run home sleep studies. Set patients up with the equipment, explain how to use it overnight, then download and review the recording when it comes back.
- Interpret results. Check each test for quality, and provide results and recommendations to referring doctors and our clinical team.
- Look after each patient. Explain the procedure, answer their questions and help them understand their results and next steps.
- Keep data accurate. Document results promptly and manage patient records and test data in line with privacy requirements.
- Maintain the equipment. Keep all respiratory and sleep testing equipment calibrated, quality-checked and working correctly.
- Work with other healthcare professionals. Share what you find so each patient's care fits together.
You have hands-on clinical experience in respiratory or sleep testing, and you explain results clearly to patients and doctors alike.
We're looking for:
- A bachelor's degree in Respiratory Science, Health or Biomedical Science, or a related field.
- Clinical experience in respiratory and/or sleep testing.
- Certification as a Respiratory Scientist, or equivalent, in line with ANZSRS standards.
- A current CPR certificate.
- Familiarity with healthcare software such as HealthTrack.
- A current driver's licence and full working rights in Australia.
- A Working with Children Check and police check before you start.
Additional certifications in sleep medicine or pulmonary function testing will be highly regarded.
You will have an opportunity to:
- Work with the latest diagnostic technologies and tools in respiratory care.
- Grow your career with professional development support.
- Be part of one of Melbourne's largest cardiology, sleep and respiratory groups.
- Access team member discounts and offers at a range of retailers, venues and services.
