Job Description

Day rate: £550–£600/day (Inside IR35)

Duration: 6 months (likely extension)

Location: Manchester, 1-2 days/week in office

Start: October

Codurance is a software craftsmanship consultancy. We work with clients on the engineering problems that actually matter to their business, and we do it properly - clean code, sound architecture, and engineering practices that hold up under pressure, not just in a demo. We're not a body-shop; our consultants are expected to bring technical judgement and push back on bad decisions, not just fill a seat.

We're hiring contract .NET Engineers to join a project team working on a large-scale modernisation programme for a client in the regulated financial services space - replacing a legacy platform that's been patched together for years with a modern, cloud-native architecture running on Kubernetes. It's meaty, high-stakes engineering with real constraints around compliance, data integrity, and scale, and you'll be doing it alongside a team that cares about doing the work well.

You'll be embedded with the client's engineering teams as part of a Codurance delivery squad, working on:

  • Re-architecting parts of a legacy system onto modern, cloud-native foundations
  • Building and evolving services on Kubernetes across AWS and Azure
  • Working in a regulated environment where quality, testing, and traceability aren't optional
  • Applying proper software craftsmanship practices - TDD, pairing, clean architecture - as standard.
  • Strong commercial experience with .NET / C# in a production environment
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerised/Kubernetes environments
  • Comfortable working in a regulated or compliance-heavy environment (financial services experience is a plus, not a requirement)
  • Experience modernising or re-platforming legacy systems
  • A genuine interest in doing things well - testing, clean code, good engineering habits
  • Able to work in Manchester 1-2 days a week

Everyone should have the right to bring their whole self to work and be celebrated for who they are. Our people are hired purely on their commitment to these values and their ambition to deliver outstanding results for our clients. Codurance is proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer and is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace.
