Job Description

Sierra Select is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role is responsible for accurate payroll processing, payroll accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance while working closely with Human Resources and Finance.

Responsibilities

* Process biweekly or scheduled payroll accurately and on time.

* Review employee hours, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and benefits.

* Reconcile payroll, tax, benefits, and other payroll-related accounts.

* Prepare and record payroll journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.

* Assist with federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and payments.

* Prepare payroll reports and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close.

* Support W-2 preparation, payroll audits, and year-end reconciliation.

* Work with HR to process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and employee deductions.

* Respond to employee questions regarding payroll and deductions.

* Maintain confidential payroll and financial information.

* Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.

* Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and internal controls.

* 2+ years of payroll, payroll accounting, or accounting experience.

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

* Strong knowledge of payroll accounting and payroll tax requirements.

* Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and accounting software.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

* Excellent organizational and communication skills.

* Ability to manage confidential information professionally.

* Multi-state payroll experience is a plus.

* CPP or FPC certification is a plus.
