Job Description

Data Engineer

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with expertise in Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, Python, and SQL to support and evolve an enterprise cloud data platform. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on builder and experimenter who enjoys exploring new technologies, developing prototypes, and evaluating innovative data and AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and prototype new capabilities within the Snowflake data platform.
  • Build solutions, automation, and POCs using Python, SQL, Snowflake, and Azure.
  • Research and evaluate emerging data technologies, AI capabilities, and cloud platform features.
  • Explore Snowflake Cortex, AI agents, AI-driven automation, and Apache Iceberg/open table formats.
  • Evaluate new technologies through practical experimentation and recommend adoption strategies.
  • Troubleshoot Snowflake and Azure platform issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement solutions.
  • Analyze query history, query execution plans, warehouse sizing, and resource utilization to optimize performance.
  • Improve platform reliability, monitoring, observability, automation, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and diagnostic scripts.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, Architecture, Infrastructure, and other technical teams.
  • Provide occasional L2/L3 technical support and assist with production escalations, including outside normal business hours when required.

Requirements

  • Snowflake: Strong hands-on engineering and development, platform troubleshooting, performance tuning, warehouse sizing, and query optimization.
  • Microsoft Azure: Strong practical experience with Azure services and cloud-based data platform solutions.
  • Python: Strong programming skills for development, automation, integrations, and rapid prototyping.
  • SQL: Advanced SQL development, query troubleshooting, diagnostics, and stored procedure experience.
  • Data Platform Engineering: Experience building, enhancing, and supporting modern cloud data platforms.
  • POC Development: Ability to research technologies, build prototypes, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Troubleshooting: Experience investigating platform issues, performing root-cause analysis, and resolving complex technical problems.
  • Experience: 7+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years working with data platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experimentation with Snowflake Cortex and AI capabilities.
  • Exposure to AI agents, generative AI, and AI-driven automation.
  • Familiarity with Apache Iceberg and open table formats.
  • Experience with platform monitoring, observability, and operational automation.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture, data platform performance, and cost optimization.
  • Ability to work independently, research unfamiliar technologies, and deliver solutions in an evolving technical environment.

Important: This is not a dedicated production-support role or a traditional ETL-only position. Strong hands-on Python, Azure, Snowflake, SQL, and a willingness to experiment with new technologies are essential.

How to Apply

Interested candidates with relevant hands-on experience in Snowflake, Azure, Python, and SQL are encouraged to apply with their updated resume.
