About the Role
Love Maths or ICT? Use Your Knowledge to Help Young People Rediscover What They Can Achieve. At Abbey Gardens School, we’re looking for a Maths & ICT Instructor who can bring these subjects to life for KS3 students who may not have always found traditional education easy.
You do not need QTS to apply. What matters is your subject knowledge, your ability to connect with young people and your enthusiasm for finding different ways to make learning meaningful.
With small class sizes, personalised learning and a supportive specialist team around you, you’ll have the opportunity to really get to know your students. You’ll adapt learning around individual starting points, strengths and needs, helping students rebuild confidence and work towards qualifications including Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSEs.
Whether your experience comes from teaching, tutoring, training, mentoring or another environment where you’ve helped others learn, this could be an opportunity to take your skills in a rewarding new direction.
What you will be doing
- Deliver engaging and practical Maths and ICT lessons across KS3
- Support students working towards Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications
- Adapt lessons and resources around individual abilities, learning needs and EHCP outcomes
- Find creative ways to make Maths and ICT accessible, relevant and engaging for students
- Build positive relationships that help students develop confidence and re-engage with learning
- Encourage resilience, independence, problem solving and a willingness to try
- Monitor progress, recognise achievements and help students understand how far they have come
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes for students
What you will bring
You don’t need to be a qualified teacher. We’re looking for someone who has the knowledge, confidence and enthusiasm to inspire young people.
You’ll bring:
- Strong Maths and/or ICT subject knowledge
- Experience of supporting learning through teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or training
- The ability to explain concepts in different ways and adapt your approach around individual students
- A patient, positive and resilient approach
- The confidence to engage and motivate young people who may have experienced barriers to education
- An interest in SEND, specialist education or alternative provision
- A genuine desire to help students develop academically and personally
No QTS? No Problem.
If you have strong Maths or ICT knowledge and experience helping others learn, your skills could make a real difference at Abbey Gardens School.
You’ll be joining a supportive environment where you can develop your experience within specialist education while helping young people achieve qualifications, build confidence and begin to see themselves differently as learners.
If you’re ready to use your Maths or ICT expertise in a role where progress is personal and your impact is visible, we’d love to hear from you.
