About Auror
At Auror, we’re empowering the retail industry to stop theft and organized retail crime, a $150 billion problem globally. It’s high-volume crime that’s increasingly organized in nature and is putting people, retailers, and communities at risk every day.
Founded in New Zealand 12 years ago, we’re working with some of the best and largest retailers in the world across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the US.
Auror is connecting people and intelligence to reduce crime. We’re using technology for good and prioritize privacy by design principles. In partnership with our leading retail partners, we need people with the passion, determination, and innovation required to overcome one of the world's largest problems. If you’re looking to make a difference with and for the people dedicated to stopping crime, for good, then we want you on our team.
We're also embracing the potential of AI to supercharge our impact—whether that's enhancing the way we detect trends, support our customers, or improve internal workflows. As a company, we're committed to responsibly incorporating AI into how we work and what we build, and we encourage all Aurors to be curious about how AI can elevate their work, regardless of role or function.
The Role
Auror’s mission is to reduce violent crime in retail stores by 50% over the next five years. We believe recognition technology, deployed with privacy at the forefront, has an important role to play in achieving this.
Our Vehicle Recognition and Subject Recognition modules provide real-time intelligence that helps retail teams recognise risk and respond proactively, supporting safer stores for staff and customers. We have ambitious plans to scale these technologies across the globe. Subject Recognition is still in its early stages, making this an opportunity to help shape how we take it from pilots to sustainable deployment across our markets.
As our Senior Global Recognition Technology Manager, you’ll lead the team responsible for bringing this technology to life for customers. You’ll combine strong people leadership with practical technical experience, helping your team deliver successful pilots and rollouts that bring together physical hardware, networking and software.
A key focus will be enabling Risk Detection technology to scale reliably, helping more retailers prevent crime and keep their teams and communities safe. You’ll develop the playbook for how we partner with customers, system integrators and internal teams, enabling us to operate globally while keeping quality high, communication clear and workloads sustainable for your team.
You’ll bring hands-on experience deploying technology in physical environments and managing technical project managers across multiple regions and time zones. You’ll be comfortable working through technical challenges with engineers and integrators, explaining options to customers and commercial stakeholders, and navigating complexity with clarity and care.
Location and hours
This is a Denver, Colorado-based role; we value co-location and have a hybrid flexible working model. Our recognition technology product modules are leveraged by customers in New Zealand, Australia, the US, and the UK, and while this role is focused on the US, you will need to be flexible with your working hours to effectively support our customers and internal teams globally. This role will also involve some travel to customer sites to provide on-the-ground support for pilots and rollouts, averaging 2–5 days per month.
Practically, this role will involve:
Lead and develop a global team. Lead team members based in New Zealand, the UK, and the US, building connection and effective collaboration across time zones. Set clear expectations, responsibilities, and goals linked to customer and business outcomes. Build capability through regular coaching, feedback, and development conversations. Recognise strong performance and address performance concerns early, following through on agreed improvements.
Build a scalable delivery practice. Establish repeatable approaches to scoping, planning, deployment, and handover. Introduce a practical operating cadence for reviewing priorities, capacity, progress, and risks, enabling the team to manage a growing portfolio of concurrent projects with confidence.
Own delivery across markets. Oversee Vehicle Recognition and Subject Recognition pilots and rollouts, from technical discovery through to implementation and transition into ongoing support. Ensure each project has clear ownership, agreed success measures, realistic milestones, and timely escalation of risks.
Bring practical technical judgement. Help the team assess site readiness, deployment models, hardware, camera systems, networking, and software integrations. Stay close enough to the technical detail to challenge assumptions, support troubleshooting, and step into complex deployments when needed.
Align technical and non-technical stakeholders. Bring together customers, Commercial, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and external partners around clear plans and decisions. Explain technical requirements and trade-offs in accessible language, manage expectations, and constructively challenge commitments that put successful delivery at risk.
Own supplier and integrator partnerships. Act as the accountable owner of Auror’s relationships with hardware suppliers, software partners, system integrators and installation providers across Recognition Technology deployments. Set and manage partner responsibilities, quality standards and escalation paths, and hold partners to them. This keeps deployments consistent, gets issues resolved quickly and helps partners scale with customer demand
Improve delivery through evidence and learning. Use measures such as deployment lead times, milestone reliability, rework, and customer readiness to identify improvements. Turn lessons from pilots and rollouts into shared playbooks, and provide actionable feedback to Product and Engineering.
Build responsible AI-assisted ways of working. Model practical AI use in planning, reporting, and documentation. Help the team develop repeatable approaches, maintain shared context, protect sensitive information, and review and own the quality of their outputs.
About you
Practical experience deploying solutions that combine physical hardware, networking, and software, ideally within recognition technology, video surveillance, physical security, or a related field.
Strong people management experience, including setting expectations, coaching, developing capability, and managing performance concerns.
Experience leading a distributed team and coordinating delivery across regions and time zones.
Evidence of building project management practices that increased delivery capacity while maintaining quality and team sustainability.
Confidence leading a team that is managing multiple customer implementations, balancing commercial priorities, technical dependencies, and available capacity.
The ability to build trust with technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicate clearly, and navigate competing expectations.
Sound judgement about when to empower others, when to step in, and when to escalate.
An understanding of privacy and responsible technology deployment, with the curiosity to deepen your expertise in LPR and facial recognition.
We are looking for people who demonstrate a strong alignment to our Guiding Principles (you can find these on our Careers page).
Auror is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible application process to all candidates and we are actively working to improve diversity within the tech industry. We celebrate diversity and inclusiveness at Auror, regardless of (but not limited to) race, gender, sexual orientation, family status, religion, ethnicity, national origin, physical disability, veteran status, or age.
If you need adjustments to any part of our recruitment process because of accessibility reasons, please do not hesitate to let us know during the application process. We will work with you to identify adjustments that will allow you to perform at your best.
What are the benefits like?
Competitive salary range: USD$155,000 - 180,000 (PL4)
