Hygiene Operator (Night Shift)

Location: Airdrie, North Lanarkshire
Department: Hygiene
Shift Pattern: Night Shift (Monday - Friday 22:00-06:00)
Reports To: Hygiene Team Leader / Hygiene Supervisor
Contract Type: Full-Time

The Role

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Hygiene Operator to join our night shift team at our chilled processed potato facility in Airdrie.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining excellent hygiene standards throughout the production and processing areas, ensuring all equipment, machinery and workspaces are cleaned and sanitised in line with company procedures, food safety standards and health & safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitise production equipment, machinery, utensils, parts and work areas.
  • Carry out deep cleaning activities in accordance with hygiene schedules.
  • Adhere to colour coding procedures for cleaning equipment.
  • Complete all cleaning documentation, records and checklists accurately.
  • Ensure correct dilution, handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Follow all COSHH, food safety and health & safety procedures.
  • Wear and maintain appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Report any hygiene, safety, maintenance or quality concerns to management.
  • Ensure cleaning cupboards, equipment and stores are kept tidy and organised.
  • Support production teams in maintaining GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
  • Assist during audits and inspections as required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve hygiene and cleanliness targets.

You will be expected to:

  • Follow all company health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and housekeeping.
  • Demonstrate a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe practices.
  • Support quality standards and customer requirements at all times.
  • Contribute to environmental and waste reduction initiatives.

  • Previous hygiene, cleaning or food manufacturing experience.

  • Understanding of GMP and HACCP principles.
