Job Description

Systems Design Engineer

Warwickshire – Hybrid working £40,000 – £60,000 DOE | No sponsorship available

VIQU have partnered with a well-established UK engineering manufacturer that sits within a long-standing, family-owned European group. With a heritage stretching back over a century, this business combines engineering excellence, innovation, and sustainability, delivering complex vehicle platforms used across essential services worldwide.

This is an opportunity to join a highly capable systems engineering function, working end-to-end on the design, integration, validation and commissioning of complete vehicle systems. You’ll have genuine influence across architecture, requirements, testing and real-world deployment — not just paper design.

The Role

As a Systems Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the full systems lifecycle across vehicle platforms, collaborating closely with software, electrical, mechanical and supplier teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Systems engineering development across complex vehicle platforms

  • Requirements capture, management and documentation (V-model)

  • Creating system architectures, topologies and electrical interconnection schematics

  • Leading multi-system integration (electrical, mechanical & communications)

  • Supporting DVP&R, validation, verification and on-vehicle testing

  • System start-up, commissioning and fault finding

  • Producing technical documentation for production and aftermarket teams

What We’re Looking For
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline

  • Strong systems engineering experience within automotive, off-highway, heavy or complex electromechanical products

  • Solid understanding of system integration, requirements management and validation

  • Experience with electrical principles, schematics and vehicle/system testing

  • Confident communicator who can work cross-functionally and with suppliers

Desirable experience includes CANbus, ISO 26262, functional safety, off-highway vehicles or control systems.

Why Apply?
  • Work on complete vehicle systems, not siloed components

  • Hybrid working with flexi-time

  • Strong engineering culture with long-term stability

  • Backed by a respected, family-owned international group

  • Clear scope for technical growth and progression
