Job Description

Senior HR Advisor (part time)
Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum pro rata
Part-Time (3 4 Days per Week) Flexible Working Available
Office Hours: 8:30am 5:30pm

We are seeking an experienced, approachable and commercially minded Senior HR Advisor to join our client s growing business on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking for flexibility while maintaining a meaningful and influential role within a successful organisation.

Working closely with the Managing Director and senior management team, you will provide hands-on operational HR support, ensuring people processes are effective, compliant and aligned with business needs. You will be a trusted adviser to managers and employees, helping to maintain a positive, professional and well-managed working environment.

This role offers flexibility around working arrangements and would suit a confident HR generalist who enjoys working autonomously and building strong relationships across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted HR adviser to the Managing Director and senior leaders of the business
  • Provide practical guidance on performance management, absence, conduct, capability, grievance and disciplinary matters
  • Coach and support managers in effective people management and employee conversations
  • Maintain and review employment contracts, the employee handbook, HR policies and standard documentation
  • Ensure the business remains up to date with UK employment legislation and recommend appropriate changes
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, probation reviews, contractual changes, statutory leave processes and offboarding activities
  • Act as an approachable and confidential point of contact for employees requiring HR guidance and support.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support HR reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee engagement and the overall employee experience
  • Promote a positive workplace culture while balancing commercial objectives with best-practice HR solutions

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong generalist HR experience at Senior HR Advisor or HR Manager level
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations
  • Experience providing independent advice and support to managers and senior leaders
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to deliver pragmatic HR solutions
  • Strong communication, organisational and documentation skills
  • Professional, discreet and able to build credibility and trust at all levels
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working within a standalone or small HR function

Ideally, you will have:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification
  • Previous experience within an SME environment
  • Experience within engineering, manufacturing, technical, distribution or B2B sectors
