Job Description

Role: AS/400 RPG Developer 

Locaion: Dallas, TX – Onsite

Type: Long Term Contract

This role focuses on maintaining the DPI billing system, which processes usage data, payments, adjustments, and monthly service charges to produce wholesale customer bills. The resource will work in an IBM i (iSeries) environment, utilizing RPG programming to ensure billing accuracy and compliance with BOS (Billing Output Specifications) standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Maintenance: Debug, troubleshoot, and maintain existing RPG, RPGLE, and CL code within the DPI billing system.
  • System Enhancements: Develop and implement new features for billing processes, including rate changes, tax applications, and usage calculations.
  • Data Processing: Manage data ingestion from other source systems and ensure proper sorting, verification, and formatting of customer account information.
  • Report Generation: Utilize RPG to generate, analyze, and format complex wholesale customer bills according to BOS (Billing Output Specifications).
  • Integration: Ensure seamless data exchange between legacy DPI applications and modern web-based viewing tools like Globys.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for all developed programs and changes.

Required Technical Skills

  • Languages: Expert-level proficiency in RPG/400, RPG ILE, RPG III, RPG IV, and RPG Free-format programming.
  • Platform: Strong experience with IBM i, iSeries/AS/400 (OS/400) development environment.
  • Tools: Experience with CL (Control Language), CLLE (Control Language Licensed Extension), TURNOVER Change Management, DDS (Data Description Specifications), and DB2/400 database.
  • Other: Proficiency in debugging interactive and batch jobs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in telecommunications billing, specifically local wholesale or carrier access billing systems.
  • Experience with SQL integration within RPG applications.
  • Experience in modernizing RPG applications to work with modern front ends.
  • Knowledge of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).
