Job Description

Upscale Remodeling is seeking a Residential Remodeling Project Manager in Ithaca, NY. Are you a leader in your field and among your colleagues? Oversee, supervise, and manage our entire residential production department.

Provide active oversight of the production team, ensuring each team member understands their responsibilities, performs their work to Upscale Remodeling’s standards, and contributes to a team culture consistent with our Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

• Coach and mentor production staff to continually improve capabilities.

• Work in a proactive, professional, effective manner with direct reports, team members and alliances to review, approve, organize, and produce remodeling projects.

• Review construction drawings, and write scopes of work, specifications, contracts, and drawing notes.

• Create and manage project and employee schedules.

• Hold production meetings as necessary.

• Effectively communicate with all team members, including employees, clients, vendors, and trade partners.

• Competently operate our project management software (currently BuilderTrend) and MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Continuously learn new updates and program improvements.

• Manage/control job costs to meet or beat estimated costs.

• Troubleshoot and solve production related issues as they arise.

• Assist with the hiring process - evaluate and make recommendations for advancement and termination of team members.

• Assist in pre-production project development and design phase as the construction and scheduling expert.

• Produce projects on budget, on schedule, and at or above our expected level of quality.

• Maintain excellent client relationships and high satisfaction level.

• Build and maintain a skilled, productive, and motivated production team with high morale.

Qualifications

• Project Management: Must have demonstrated experience managing residential construction projects from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, material procurement, quality control, and project closeout.

• Project Coordination: Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the production team, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to keep projects moving efficiently and on schedule. Must be able to anticipate potential issues, resolve problems, and adjust schedules and resources as project needs change.

• Staff Management & Scheduling: Must have experience directly managing staff, with individual employees reporting to you. Responsible for managing the individual needs, concerns, performance, and schedules of team members, including PTO, project assignments, workload, and other scheduling needs.

• Construction Planning & Scope Development: Ability to review architectural drawings and determine how the project should be built in the field. Must be able to understand the details and particulars of each project, anticipate construction challenges, determine appropriate building methods and sequencing, and develop practical solutions consistent with the design intent. Must also be able to develop clear, accurate scopes of work that define the required construction activities, materials, and project-specific details.

• Residential Remodeling Experience: 8+ years of experience in residential remodeling, with extensive knowledge and demonstrated proficiency across all phases of construction. Must have a strong understanding of building codes, foundation layout, framing, exterior siding and trim, cabinetry, interior trim, finish work, and the construction methods and procedures required to successfully execute complex remodeling projects.

• Technology & Adaptability: Comfortable using technology as an integral part of the job and willing to continually learn and adopt new software, apps, and digital tools that improve communication, project management, documentation, and productivity.

• Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), web-based platforms, email, and project management software.

• Quality Control: Must have a strong eye for quality and craftsmanship, with the ability to establish, maintain, and continuously evaluate production standards. Responsible for identifying deficiencies, addressing quality issues, and ensuring completed work consistently meets Upscale Remodeling’s standards.

• Production Planning & Prioritization: Ability to strategically prioritize projects and production work, determine appropriate project start dates, and allocate staff and resources accordingly. Must be able to balance competing deadlines, staffing availability, project requirements, and company priorities to maintain an efficient and realistic production schedule.

• Production Schedule Authority: Own and maintain the master production schedule and have the authority to determine when projects can realistically begin. Work closely with the sales team to establish accurate client expectations and communicate start dates based on staffing, workload, project requirements, and profitability. Must be comfortable leading conversations about competing sales priorities, and existing commitments. Make decisions that increase production efficiency and reduce any negative impact on company revenue.

• Maintain a valid driver’s license and state required auto insurance.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 Depending on Experience
