Journeyman Network and Computer Systems Administrator

Varmoda is seeking a Journeyman Network and Computer Systems Administrator with strong experience in network configuration, monitoring, and administration. The role involves managing, monitoring, maintaining, and securing networks and tenant network segments that integrate the transport of networks and data. The resource will support mission critical systems requiring 24x7x365 uptime and participate in rotational on-call requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal throughput and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using firewall logs and switch packet capture tools; engaging with cross-functional teams to leverage support and collaboration when necessary.
• Conduct network capacity planning and bandwidth management to accommodate future growth and changing business needs.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate network infrastructure with cloud services, storage systems, and other IT components.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in networking and recommend their adoption as appropriate.
• Create and maintain documentation related to network configurations, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior network engineers.
• Manage, monitor, maintain, and secure networks and tenant network segments that integrate the transport of networks and data.
• Organize, document, and manage the delivery of Network load balancing services.
• Document and manage Internet Protocol Addresses.

Required Qualifications

• Seven (7)+ years of experience in a Network Administrator role or in a related field.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in network configuration and monitoring.
• Five (5) or more years of experience with firewall configuration – Palo Alto, Juniper, etc.
• Five (5) or more years of experience with network monitoring tools – SolarWinds and NetCool.
• Active Secret clearance.
Candidates with dual citizenship cannot be considered.
• Candidates must reside within a commutable distance for daily onsite work and on-call requirements.
• Candidates must be willing and able to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud services and integrated IT infrastructure.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship.
• Experience with network load balancing services.

Certifications & Clearance

• Active Secret clearance is required.
