Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Java Architect with 12+ years of software development experience and strong expertise in Java, application architecture, and application security.

This is a senior hands-on architecture position for an experienced technical leader who can design complex enterprise applications, provide architectural direction, conduct code and security reviews, mentor senior engineers, and remain involved in hands-on technical work.

The ideal candidate will have experience building secure, scalable, multi-tenant SaaS applications using modern Java technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead application and software architecture for complex enterprise applications.
• Design secure, scalable and highly available solutions using Java/J2EE and Spring Boot.
• Provide technical direction to senior developers and engineering teams.
• Conduct architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Perform application security reviews and identify security risks and remediation actions.
• Apply Secure SDLC, OWASP, secure coding, and application security best practices.
• Review APIs, data flows, authentication, authorization, and application architecture from a security perspective.
• Design and support applications in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
• Conduct technology evaluations and technical POCs.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues related to security, performance, stability, and scalability.
• Mentor technical teams and act as a senior technical advisor to engineering leadership.
• Collaborate with product owners, engineering leadership, security teams, and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of architecture / technical leadership experience preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE.
• Expert-level knowledge of Spring / Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with JPA / Hibernate.
• Experience with REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise application architecture and system design.
• Strong Application Security / AppSec experience.
• Knowledge of OWASP, Secure SDLC, secure coding, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience conducting architecture and code reviews.
• Strong SQL/database knowledge; Oracle experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication, technical leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
