Job Summary

We are looking for a strong hands-on Senior Python/Kafka Engineer to work on a mission-critical real-time processing platform.

This position focuses on Python-based services, Kafka streaming, real-time data processing, third-party integrations, and production support.

The successful candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to quickly understand existing systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver reliable technical solutions.

Experience with WSO or Allvue is a plus, not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and services.
• Build and support Kafka-based real-time streaming pipelines.
• Develop integrations with third-party platforms and internal enterprise systems.
• Process, transform, normalize, and enrich real-time data.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems.
• Perform root-cause analysis for complex technical and integration issues.
• Implement scalable and maintainable software solutions.
• Apply object-oriented programming, design patterns, multithreading, and concurrency.
• Create and maintain unit and integration tests.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams.
• Document technical solutions and communicate status to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka.
• Experience developing real-time or streaming applications.
• Experience with complex API/system integrations.
• Experience supporting production applications.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of multithreading and concurrency.
• Strong object-oriented programming and design-pattern knowledge.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools and practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in NYC or Miami.

Preferred Qualifications

• WSO (Wall Street Office) experience.
• Allvue experience.
• WSO/Allvue integration experience.
• Financial services or capital markets experience.
• Leveraged loans, CLOs, syndicated loans, or other credit products.
• Java experience.
• MongoDB or equivalent NoSQL database experience.
• Experience with real-time trading, trade capture, P&L, or risk systems.
• Familiarity with modern IDEs and developer productivity tools.
