Forklift Engineer

Full Time | PermanentMonday to Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Forklift Engineer to join a well-established and growing engineering business. This role will involve carrying out the service, maintenance, repair and fault-finding of forklifts and material handling equipment, ensuring machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

This position would suit an engineer with strong electrical fault-finding abilities, combined with solid mechanical knowledge, who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned maintenance, servicing and repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults efficiently.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure equipment is compliant with safety standards.
  • Complete all work to a high standard whilst adhering to health and safety procedures.
  • Assist with the day-to-day running of the workshop and support colleagues where required.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior or less experienced engineers.
  • Attend customer sites on occasion to carry out servicing, repairs and breakdown support.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience servicing and repairing forklifts, material handling equipment, plant machinery, access equipment or similar mobile machinery.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good mechanical engineering knowledge and practical repair experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to mentor and support other engineers.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Own transport required due to the rural location.
  • Good level of English communication skills (minimum B1 level preferred).
