Biomedical Scientist in Haematology/Blood Transfusion

Working Pattern: Full Shift Rota including nights and weekends

Hourly Rate: £25-27 with AfC uplifts for out of hours

We are currently seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist specialising in Haematology and Blood Transfusion to join our client’s team in Derbyshire. This is a full-time, ongoing position working full shift rota, offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to contribute to a busy and well-established laboratory service.

Key Responsibilities

You will perform full blood counts, coagulation studies, and blood film morphology. You will ensure accurate analysis, maintain quality control, and collaborate with clinical teams.

You will also carry out blood grouping, antibody screening, compatibility testing, and issue blood components for transfusion. You will ensure safe transfusion practices and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

- HCPC registration

- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent

- Experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion within a clinical laboratory

- Experience with Winpath LIMS

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- NHS experience (preferred)
