Job description

Alba Partners is an independent, specialist consultancy with offices in Edinburgh, London and Dubai. We deliver complex, regulatory change for financial services and public sector clients, across risk, resilience and cyber, data, analytics and AI, and change and transformation.

Our work is senior led. The people who shape the strategy are the people who deliver it, and our leaders have worked inside the types of institutions we now advise. We have no product to sell, so our advice serves the client.

Alba Partners is looking for a Data Scientist to join a consumer intelligence and analytics programme at a UK financial services client.

The programme

The programme is building the client's ability to spot emerging consumer trends, risks and harms early. It uses advanced analytics, machine learning and digital intelligence to do this. You will sit in an agile delivery team and build the data products, models and dashboards that turn complex data into insight for regulatory decisions and consumer protection.

What you'll do

  • Design and deliver data pipelines and data products
  • Build predictive analytics and NLP models
  • Develop Tableau dashboards that surface consumer trends, risks and early warning indicators
  • Turn consumer and market data into clear intelligence that informs regulatory priorities
  • Work as part of an agile scrum team with multidisciplinary stakeholders

What you'll bring

  • 3 to 5 years of substantial experience and in-depth knowledge of data science
  • Strong data science, statistical analysis and data modelling skills
  • Advanced Python for analysis, automation and model development
  • Strong SQL, including work with large datasets
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data products
  • Experience building machine learning and predictive models
  • Dashboard and visualisation expertise, particularly Tableau
  • The ability to turn complex analysis into actionable business insight
  • Agile/Scrum experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Nice to have

  • NLP and text analytics
  • Knowledge of consumer behaviour, consumer intelligence or market analytics
  • Experience in a regulated environment, especially financial services or the public sector
  • Online listening, digital intelligence or alternative data sources
  • Cloud-based analytics and modern data engineering practices

The details

  • Start: November 2026
  • Location: Leeds or London, at least 50% of the week in the office
  • IR35: Inside.
  • Security: You must have Security Check (SC) clearance
