About the Role, An exciting opportunity exists to join the Budget Strategy team in the Budget, Corporate and Funding Strategy Division of the Department of Education The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting development of the department's state budget submission, including reviewing and analysing business cases. The Budget Strategy team responds to and coordinates the submission of Education portfolio and relevant Children portfolio budget bids on behalf of the Minister for Education and Minister for Children. As an Analyst, you will analyse spending proposals and provide quality advice to support decision making by departmental committees and Ministerial offices. You will have the opportunity to engage with stakeholders across the department on policy development through the business case process.

As a member of the Budget Strategy team, you will join a passionate, high-performing team which is responsible for undertaking a mix of analysis, policy development, and process management related to strategic investments, resource allocation, education funding and system design issues.

Employment type: Fixed term (until 05/02/2027) - full-time position. The contract may be eligible for an extension, subject to position availability. Attributes: The successful candidate will:

Qualifications and Experience:

Highly desirable: Experience and knowledge of the Victorian state budget process and the public sector A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field is also desirable. About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

About the Division

The Budget, Corporate and Funding Strategy Division provides strategic and technical advice in the areas of finance and resourcing. The Division's key functions include

• co-ordinating the development of funding and state budget submissions,
• reviewing, developing and implementing major reforms to educational funding models
• undertaking strategic budget project work
• leading the department's strategic plan, business planning process, annual report, statement of expectations for regulators, risk management and business continuity practices.
